Michelle, Deanna & Tanner

This is me on the right, with my 22 yr old daughter Deanna up on her 3 yr old half-arab colt Tanner. Tanner's momma was a standardbred that I'd had for 9 years. She was the best horse I'd ever owned. (She was put down Dec 28, 07) I own Tanner's 7 yr old full brother, Stinkie (lol). Stinkie is responsible for the serious accident we had together when he was a 3 1/2 yr old STALLION.....And yes, he was gelded immediately afterwards. It was emergency "brain surgery" as my vet jokingly described. Anyway, onto more positive stuff! In this photo, Deanna had just mounted Tanner for the VERY FRST TIME exactly 59 seconds before my husband snapped this shot!! That's right; no-one had ever been on this colt's back one minute prior to this picture being taken. My daughter is a very confident rider, and her horse "believes" what ever she "tells" him. I chose to post this photo because it really demonstrates how powerful our minds really are. We believe "breaking" a horse should be this easy, slow, and gentle. Now, if only I could be this good to myself and begin to believe I still have what it takes to believe in myself. Deanna has ridden Stinkie for me for the last 4 years....waiting for me to get my act together!
