Ziggy, born in 1994, is my first horse, 15.1hh and a cross between an Arab and Connemara.
Not long after we got him things started to deteriate. He displayed biting, headshyness, spooky behaviour and not stopping. My confidence quickly eroded.
After 10 months, one fall, a bolting episode, much headshaking from Ziggy while riding, advice from others to give him a whipping (which I chose to ignore) and threatening to sell him twice, I discovered his teeth were in urgent need of attention dating back to probably a year before I'd brought him. Now free of pain he does seem happier.
Now we are starting to rebuild our relationship with the help of ground work, riding out with a friend and natural horsemanship advice. For my lack of confidence I'm using self-hypnosis tapes and of course this forum.
Although we have been together for a year I have never had the chance to discover Ziggy's true personality which had been masked by pain. We are now on a journey to discover eachother while I try to rebuild my confidence in him and myself.
