I did it!! I bought Tucker!!
Poor guy spent 2 hours on a trailer then into a "scary" new arena he has never been in. I saddled him up and my trainer got on him first. No issues. I got on and still no issues. Yes he was hesitant in the "scary" corners, tried to walk sideways to where his owners were when we circled. But he was not joggy, spooky, didn't call out in a panic. He stood quietly while brushing and while we were talking, even though there was another horse freaking out. The "old" owners said that they would play nerf tag on him so he is fine when balls or soft objects are thrown at or around him. The husband wanted to keep Tucker for himself but doesn't ride consistently. Tucker is use to being trail ridden and if something startles him he stands and looks at it.

I will need to work on ground manners as he is a little rushy but when I stop he turns to face me. He has put on a little bit of weight since september. So more exercise is in order. There is a lot of work that will have to go into us working as a team but he is a solid minded horse.

OMG I just bought a horse!!! Lol.
I was calm the whole time too. I didn't want to sign the cheque mind you but I didn't panic. I spent some time After leading him around the arena and he wasn't interested in the "scary" corners anymore.

I'm at home now. But would rather go back to the barn. Lol.

Congratulations! I am so happy for you.
Tip: put aside some $ and build up a $1000 horsey emergency fund. When and if something happens, you need to act quickly. It makes it much easier to make the decision to call a vet out.

Congratulations and welcome to the world of horse ownership - worry(is he walking funny, is he lame, omg what's wrong with him, what have I done . . . oh look, he's just cantered off into the paddock to run around with the other horses!) longing (wish I was with my horse and not eating/sleeping/working/ironing) new style of fashion (discovering squished licorice in every pocket, more riding pants than going out pants, you live in boots but can't walk in high heels anymore, and whisps of hay or straw fall out of your underwear), total poverty and finally, being totally and absolutely besotted with the new love of your life!

Ha ha. I did have my first nightmare about Tucker the night I bought him. It was him standing in a field with blood running down his chest. I calmly told myself it's a dream he is fine. And went back to sleep. That first day of owning him I woke up at 4:30 am all excited because I was going to the barn for 8:30 am to feed & do chores and see MY horse!! I could not fall back asleep. Lol. It almost doesn't feel real yet but I get my first month free for board so other than the cheque I haven't had to pay. It's comming though lol. That's why I'm loading up on barn chores. My trainer is nice enough to trade chores for credit towards board. so I will be mucking stalls and feeding as much as possible.
