After my lesson today, I decided it was time to buy Red. So, it is done. I am now an owner-and couldn't be happier with my decision. I think my mind has been made up for a while, and hearing that others have a similar experience made me think "Why not???"

So thank you for sharing your insights! I posted a picture, but I think it is not up yet...

Isn't it just an awesome and fearful feeling - sitting there in front of your new horse, thinking, "Wow, you're mine now." The sense of responsibility was overwhlming for me at first. Congratulations!

thanks for the words of encouragement! It is thrilling and fearful (what have I DONE?????) at the same time. After spending the week having very thorough, enlightening, and educational chats with the insurance agent, farrier, vet, trainer, and barn buddies, I think I'd just like to go for a nice ride now that the tactical stuff is done (for the moment)....

I'm glad to join the ranks of owners!

I think the very best way to start with horse ownership is in a barn setting like you have. You have lots of people who can help with problems and teach you, and also other eyes to keep a watch on things. Again, congratulations!
