My friend Kyle has had Jewel for 3 weeks now; I took her to him for the purpose of having her "despooked." Up until today, I have not yet had a progress report on her, other than the first day he had her; he sacked her out and he said it took her 45 minutes to remember what he had taught her 2 years ago with the plastic bag, and then he proceeded to use different things to sack her with, like a bull whip. He said she was getting more relaxed with different things, and that's the last I heard on how she was doing.
The past 3 weeks have been a bit crazy, I haven't even had time to ride my other horses, either. My little 14 year old FIV kitty crashed at about the same time I took Jewel to Kyle and I have spent this time caring for him; I had him put to sleep last week. Plus I have had to go to dr's appointments to deal with issues with my right foot; I guess I damaged a nerve in it when Dusty fell on my leg earlier this year. So I just have had other things to think about and haven't checked to see how my horse's training is coming along. Imagine my surprise when I called Kyle this afternoon. He was on top of my horse when he answered his phone. :)
I guess my spooky little black foxtrotter that I don't dare trail ride has been up in the mountains all day BEING SHOT OFF OF. Kyle says she's doing just awesome, too (other than she doesn't care for mountain bikes, he says). I can just picture it, Kyle foxtrotting along the trail, shooting his rifle to the right and left....
First: I'm sorry to hear about kitty. She was a very lucky kitty to have you. Second: I hope the issue with the foot is something that can be dealt with and not cause you too many problems down the road. Third: OMG, OMG! That is wonderful news about Jewel!! I can't wait to hear the stories you'll be telling us now!!!
Meezer, I'm sorry to hear about your cat and your foot. I know what it is like to lose a cherished pet, and my heart goes out to you. Hope your foot will be fixed soon.
It sounds like Jewel is doing great! You'll be able to ride her in parades after this. You're going to have tons of fun with her - I just know it.
