Riding in Your Mind’s Eye
Perfect Practice for Dressage Riders
2: First Level
JANE SAVOIE
Jane Savoie shows how “riding in your mind’s eye” will help you reach your personal best. She reveals the secret that elite athletes have known for years—the power of visualization to affect performance. Jane’s premise is that practice doesn’t make perfect; “perfect” practice makes perfect. By reprogramming your mind with correct mental pictures—that is, vivid images of movements ridden well—you can etch the right pictures in your mind’s eye. In the second DVD in this series, Jane covers the movements and exercises required of the First Level horse, including: 10-meter circles in the trot, 15-meter circles in the canter, trot serpentines, taking the reins out of the hands, lengthenings, leg yielding, changes of lead through the trot, and counter canter.

JANE SAVOIE has been a freelance dressage instructor, motivational speaker, traveling clinician, trainer, and competitor since 1980. She was the reserve rider for the 1992 US Olympic dressage team in Barcelona, and since has gone on to coach both dressage and event riders at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. She is the author of the best-selling books It’s Not Just About the Ribbons; That Winning Feeling!; Cross-Train Your Horse; and More Cross-Training. She lives in Randolph Center, Vermont, and Wellington, Florida, with her husband.

“Savoie eloquently describes the aids a rider must use to achieve the desired movement in easy-to-understand detail…”—USA Equestrian

“With Savoie as a guide, viewers can gain a firm image of the proper way to ride the various movements and can capture these images in their minds to take with them during schooling and even competitions.”—USDF Connection
