Hi. My name is Jill, alias DixieMom. I live in Tucson, Arizona and am 52 years old. I have wanted a horse since I was 3, and finally, at age 48, I had the means and opportunity! I opted for a mule and was incredibly blessed to find "Dixie", a 16.2 appaloosa mule. (Appaloosas were always my favorite.) Dixie and I trail ride, often in the mountains or through the desert.
I recently rescued "Maggie", a 13.3 Arab mule - cute as a button. She is a great little pack mule, and I am teaching her to ride. Eventually, I'd love to get her trained to drive. (Does anyone have a pony cart to sell?)
My son has a Paso Fino mule, Buddy, and my daughter has a paint mare, Xena. We ride a lot together, but the poor mare has a hard time keeping up with the mules, especially when the trail gets rough.
My greatest joy: those rare, magical rides when Dixie and I seem to click in perfect harmony.
My greatest fear: another bad fall that would keep me from riding. (But that's when I'll join the cart driving crowd.) :)
