FAQ's About EZ UP's

Who would need, want or use a stirrup extender?

There are all kinds of obstacles to riding our horses.

  • Those riders with taller horses
  • Shorter riders
  • Heavier set riders (as we get older)
  • Older riders
  • Brand new tight jeans (for the fashion bugs)
  • Bad knees, back or other physical problems
  • Extremely tired riders from long endurance rides
  • Trail riding with frequent mounts and dismounts

What are stirrup extenders made from?

  • The main body is die cast 713 grade aluminum which is the strongest possible grade available while remaining lightweight.
  • The stirrup clip is made of stainless steel and has about a 15  degree twist to it for maximum rider comfort.  The clip comes ineither 2½ " or 3" width to fit Western saddles or standard 1" for English saddles.
  • There are no loose parts to get tangled or to mess with.  Completely self-contained and hides out of the way in the fender of your saddle.  It is a very safe way to mount your horse.
  • We are using the very latest in laser and metal casting technology to make sure each stirrup extender is of the highest quality.
  • The slider bar that drops down is made of steel and because it is the ONLY PART that shows we chrome plate it so that it looks good with everyone's saddle.

How many E-Z Ups do you get when  you order?

  • You get one E-Z up for one stirrup.  There are rare cases where people in endurance competitions in rough terrain order two because they have to get on from both sides from time to time.

Do they come with a stirrup?

  • No.  You use your existing stirrup.  The EZ Up is strictly for making riding with your existing saddle more pleasurable.

How does it mount?

  • It is shipped with detailed installation instructions.  You simply unbuckle the stirrup adjustment clip on the back of your saddle's fender and remove the stirrup.  Then  you attach your stirrup to the E-Z Up using the stainless steel stirrup clip.  Finally you place the EZ Up back into your saddle's fender and snap the adjustment clip back in place.  You are all set.  All you have to do then is just press the button, the stirrup drops down three inches, you mounty your horser and then lift your toe in the stirrup and it locks back into place and away you go!

Does that make one stirrup lower?

  • The answer to that is that adjust that fender up by two inches and the stirrup will be at the same height as you normally ride.  We recommend that you use a tape measure before you install the E-Z Up to see how far down your stirrup normally is.  Then when you install the EZ Up simply adjust your leathers to make your stirrup the same height.

Can I drop it more than 3 inches?

  • No.  The optimal height is 3 inches.  Any more than that and you wouldn't get your leg over the saddle.  We want to make sure you maintain your optimum control and balance when you mount your horse.
  • How can I equate 3" to a rider?  If they have a 16 hand horse the E-Z up drops the stirrup to make it seem like you have just a little more than a 15 hand horse.  And if you have a 15 hand horse it drops down to nearly a 14 hand horse.  That makes a big difference when you are mounting and you need just that little edge to help you along.

What if I don't like it?

  • We guarantee that you will like it or just send it back and we will refund your money.  In most cases, after someone gets their E-Z Up installed, they call back to order one for their spouse or other members of their trail riding club.
